Looking for Serious People Ready to buy Property

Hello to all,

I have been lurking around this forum and ic.org for a few years, joined a few online classes & events and had a few discussions through email and Zoom, but now I am ready for action. The “normal” life that is expected of me and society tells me I should want feels shallow, grating, and not enough. I think the solution is community and nature. I am looking for people who share my world view and are ready to purchase land and create something more. I envision a place where members have their own small homes, but there is a large community building where we can have meetings, guest speakers, classes, art, music, and a community library. It could also have work stations that remote workers and digital nomads can use while they come stay with us for a while, or forever. Rooms in the main community house can be for guest speakers/teachers to stay. Van lifers can stay on the property and use the community building to work, use the restroom, attend classes/events, use the library, etc.. I want a large garden that we work on together, but people could also have their own small gardens if they want. I have found a property in Northern California that might work, but I need help with figuring out the legal stuff and founding members to contribute their time and money to purchase it and execute the vision. There are clearly many details to work out. I have money to contribute. The property has one large main house and several other cabins and a yurt on over 40 acres. Diversity in ages and ethnicity and background is desired, but I do have a few core ethics that we should agree on:

-Vegetarianism (Vegan accommodating). This means no raising animals to eat, no hunting, no leather crafts.

-Guided by a foundation in Progressive Christian faith. This means we look to the life and words of Jesus as an example, but are very left leaning (Anti-Capitalist, feminist, anti-racist, etc). Belief in prayer, and we pray for each other. If you have questions about this, I am open to answering.

-Truly kind and respectful to each other and wherever we are in our life/health journey. Respect for any introverted or neurodivergent traits in each other.

-Interest and commitment to live simply in a way that honors the earth and all its inhabitants. Interest in Permaculture/growing food.

-Curious mind and interest in lifelong learning.

-Use of natural medicine whenever possible, but ok with modern medicine when needed (including vaccines).

-Willing to give your time, physical labor, and money to make this happen.

-Desire to live a life of service to each other and the earth. Help each other when needed (with projects on their homes or in the community areas, taking care of their animals or plants while they are traveling, bringing food and medicine when someone is sick, etc..)

Of course there is a lot more, but I have thought about what the basic things I am looking for in people to create this life with, and these are it. If this sounds like you (or you are at least open to it) and you are interested, please let me know and we can email or zoom separately to discuss.

If that’s not you, that is cool, I still love you. Please do not reply with something rude though.

About me- Single mom of an 18 year old (who will probably be with me part time) in my 40s. Educated and travelled. Currently work in social services.

Please watch the video dairy is scary on youtube. It’s only 5 or so minutes long. Thank you. I don’t have the money to buy right now. I learn towards Biblical teachings. I’ve been vegan for going on 14 years. It sounds like what you’re doing is taking steps in the right direction. I hope it works out for you and that the community becomes fully vegan and not just vegan accommodating in the near future. The dairy and the egg industry are still in with the flesh industry. So it was in the beginning. So shall it be in the end. Which is vegan. I’m not vaccinated and don’t support vaccinations. I am a 40 year old male. I am also educated and somewhat traveled. I’m anti capitalist but I’m not a feminist. I’m not against women but I’m also not for total women empowerment in every way. I’m anti racist. I have a lot to share. I think we all come to our beliefs and such i from what we experience along that way. So it’s not going to be perfect. But I’m one that will sit down and discuss versus just writing people off if they don’t agree. As you put it ( a life long learner ).

Thank you for your reply and the video suggestion. I have watched documentaries on the dairy industry and it is possible I will go completely vegan eventually. I have several vegan friends. I like that you said humans were vegan in the beginning, I agree. I have not eaten red meat in about 27 years, and have been vegetarian for about 7 years , and my current diet is about 80% vegan. I am not willing to budge on the vaccinations since I have family that worked in pediatric medicine and have traveled and volunteered in several developing areas around the world and have heard the first hand accounts of vaccines savings lives, especially children. About Feminism, that’s a long dicussion but it is really about equity and awareness. It is true everyone does not have to agree 100%.
