There are not a ton of people consistently active here however there seems to be a ton of dramatic childlike arguing amongst quite a few of those who are. Why is this such a common part of society? Why do people feel the need to criticize what other people are doing and try pointing them toward their own way of doing things? Why can’t we just let people live how they want, educate their kids how they want, eat what they want, etc.? Isn’t freedom the idea? Somehow, we have confused learning from each other with teaching each other. You can’t teach people who don’t want to learn your way, and that’s perfectly ok. Isn’t it? There are a ton of people who find this community because they are so overwhelmed with the current state of society, they feel the need to search for something different. Then they get here and after a short amount of time they find that this isn’t so different after all. Everyone thinking that their way is best, and any other way is inferior. The need to impart some special knowledge on you that only they have. I think that the nature of socialization on the internet contributes to this and if you aren’t cognizant of this, it will drag you down. I like the idea of a catalogue of knowledge that can be perused and studied to learn from others’ experiences, but I really dislike the need to “correct” the details of someone else’s experience based on your own. This aspect of human behavior fascinates me as much as it annoys me, but the truth is I think it’s mostly limited to online interaction. You don’t have to like or even agree with someone’s pov, you can just keep it moving until you find that echo chamber you’re looking for. Right? Am I falling into it myself by even pointing all this out? Perhaps it is inherently human???
