Hi!
Do you love your rural farm or ecovillage, but miss the art scenes, music and night life? Does your community want to host a folk-punk band for a night of farm-emo/ folk-punk music? Or a poetry reading?
I’m the founder of a band, Eli and the Hypotheticals, and the author of the poetry book: Treat me like you treat the Earth. All three of us in the band are poets, and would happily read you poems if punk rock isn’t your bag. And if you wanna dance or mosh, we are happy to accommodate that as well. We even can be a backing band if we tour with our sister band, Black Market Translation for you and your community to read your poems, and you all can be a rock star for the night. I want to go on tour, but I feel like the folks in community settings would be better listeners ( and hosts) than a lot of punk and folk venues in cities. Also might open the possibility to take my kiddo with me on tour.
I’m a single parent who’s been living in various community houses and punk and hippie co-housing situations for 15 years or so. My end goal has always been to live in a rural farm situation, but given my co-parent has no interest in re-locating out of Denver, and my kid is in middle school, I don’t see that happening til they’re graduated High School. But I want to make connections with people doing the good hard work of building community and growing food. I want to learn what you have to teach, and share what I have to offer.
I love idea of creating an ecovillage tour circuit for bands and villages that like that idea. Create robust networks of artists and communities, and not always get robbed by bars or get cops called on us at house shows. If it’s warm out, we can sleep in tents. (Beds would be great if you got em though!)
Message if that sounds interesting to you, what dates are best and where your community. eliandthehypotheticals@gmail.com
Here’s a link to our new (first) ep on bandcamp. See if you are into our folky angsty, self-reflective punk music.
They aren’t letting me add additional links as a new member, but you can find my poetry and music on you tube on google by searching: “ElizaBeth Whittington, treat me like you treat the earth” or Eli Whittington poetry.
Hope to hear from you all soon! Keep fighting the good fight.
Eli
