Hi, I’m Sam. I’m currently homeless, living in a tent on the streets of Seattle Wa. I’m not posting a photo of myself for personal reasons. If I were to live in an intentional community, I’d wish to be a private person. I’ll help out where/whenever I can. I’ve never lived in an intentional community before. My special talent is usually learning as I do things. I don’t like doing anything haphazardly, nor do I like being allowed doing something hazardously. If I’m doing something wrong/harmful, and there’s a better way of getting the job done, by all means show/tell me.
I’m interested in living in the wilderness, or even helping rebuild someplace abandoned; I ain’t afraid of [no] ghosts! I’m basically looking for someplace away from the city and far from society. I do my best to be diverse, patient, Zen, & understanding.
Don’t be afraid to message me. Please know that if I don’t reply, I’m in search of a power outlet.
I am living at Tasman Ecovillage in Tasmania and am also interested in what is happening elsewhere.
Neil.
Welcome Sam! I am so glad to have you here.
Thank you for welcoming me.
Hi, I’m Erika, currently not living anywhere in particular (except in my van). I’m selling my house and taking a break from “normal life” to spend time exploring the US and visiting friends and family.
I love the idea of intentional community and have visited a few, and I’m hoping if I stick with it and take the classes, I’ll have an a-ha moment and know exactly how to make it work. In charting out a path, I’m considering the need to work about 10 more years, and factoring in what I think the future holds for us as a species, and what the earth will put up with before shaking off a bunch of us.
I’m so glad this forum was developed! I hope to better understand what it takes to found a new community, join an existing community, and the particulars of urban vs rural communities.
For over 10 years, we have cultivated a small permaculture paradise on an urban farm homestead. With infrastructure for 5, we seek housemates with whom to collaborate. Fostered is an atmosphere of relaxation, rejuvenation and for recharging reserves.
A healthy lifestyle of exercise and good food serves as an effective approach to happiness, as is enjoying the ways we spend our time. Gardening, rock climbing, cooking, swimming…
From this forum, I would love to make connections with people interested in “bending time” by being more efficient with their energy. Harness nature, automate, cultivate quality relationships with people interested in either collaboration (who live off site), or co-management (living on site).
Hi-
I’m Jane.
My Husband Eddie and I live in Lake County, IL.
I’m 65, a full office RN, and looking forward to finding a great community to live in upon retirement soon. We are both very healthy, as my husband would say, “gracias a dios!”
I’m interested in sustainability, organic gardening, some shared community meals, having our own home that we designed, great conversations, sharing music or craft activities.
I believe if we’re not busy learning and growing, we’re busy dying, and I sam interested in living for many years to come!
Hiya Geoffrey, We’ve established or are establishing a loose community in upstate NY. We live in the western finger lakes region in an old Catholic seminary school known as St. Michael’s Mission. The property gets used for a variety of things such as weddings and family reunions, anything that brings people together, and we host guests via Airbnb and other traveler platforms. Perhaps we’d talk. It is a monumental property of epic proportion. See here: St. Michael's Mission aerial, January 30, 2021 - YouTube
Hi CTButler, Let’s connect! We have some similar interests and I’d love to collaborate. Anyone here that wants a more immersive experience in talking about intentional community might consider Telegram. I’ve just started such a group and all are welcome: Telegram: Join Group Chat
Hello, I am not sure how to send a PM but i am interested in connecting in CA

Hi I’m Lila and currently living North of Phoenix, AZ while I work on plans for my property in Mohave Co AZ. I’ve lived in the desert most of my life and the past few years have been traveling and working on assorted hospitality farms I found through Helpx.net and ready to start something of my own.
One of the issues in most of the places I stayed was that there was no real structure or plan but we did accomplish a lot and the best part was the food and camaraderie with young people from all parts of the world, which is the experience I want to recreate and looking for partners who want to live off grid and start something sustainable and fun in the desert.
I notice that IFC has a service to match people to communities which is great, but I’m also thinking that a study group would help to not just find likeminded seekers and leaders, but also to explore diverse ideas. I just purchased The Cooperative Culture Handbook from IFC and wondering if anyone would like to start a book group. I think in general it would be a good introduction to learn about communal living.
Welcome @Lila_Heard! I love your idea about a discussion group for the Cooperative Culture Handbook! I purchased a copy a couple of months ago, but haven’t cracked it open yet. A discussion group is probably just the thing I need to motivate me to actually start working through it. Even starting a thread in the forum about the book once you start reading it could work. I look forward to potentially discussing this topic more with you.
Great job putting together the forum!
Hey. I think it’s better to use the reply function than to create a new post with your answer. No?
Lars – the “reply” function in Discourse just serves as an indicator that it IS a reply, and what it is a reply to. It doesn’t thread or sub-indent the replying conversation in a way that you might have seen on other platforms. So what you see above (and in this message) is a reply that shows up sort of looking like a brand new post.
There are a lot of reasons why Discourse opted to go with this very flat interface (vs nested) and I can see the pros and cons of it.
Top of the morning! Anyone up for a spot of tea?
Yes, ok I see. I realized that it’s how it functions and that you can’t choose. It just felt a bit messy when the reply appeared further down, but on the other hand you don’t get the long comment sections.
Hi everyone,
I’m Lars Michael, born and raised in Norway but craving to live with an international community vibe. I’m 32 now, and currently studying at the university to be a teacher in music, science and school gardening. From before I have my bachelor in renewable energy and my master of science in a field called industrial ecology. Completed a permaculture course around 2018, which got me interested in ecovillages. Have spent the last years traveling a bit in Europe to volunteer in different communities. Have yet to find somewhere to settle down for a longer period.
Interested in connecting with others to hear their story, and learn also how to manage the community life financially. I also love music and working together growing food
Hi, I’m Beka (she/her). My family and I are founding an IC in Minnesota, along with several other families. It’s main focuses are children and families, intergenerational, social and environmental justice, growing our own food, sustainable energy, and living life together. I’m excited to get ideas from other people and communities and make connections.
Hey @koreyb, woud you mind linking your Telegram group in the new “Other Spaces to talk about Community” Topic?
