Look up Coweeta in NC, they’re near the border with GA, in the mountains
Hello, I’m Stephanie. I live in the Eugene-Springfield area of Oregon. I recently learned that some people I know are going to be selling their home in a few years. It’s a beatiful five acre property and my roommate and I have always wished we could live there. I think the place would be a perfect home for a group of about 6-9 people. So I’m here to see if I can find the right people to buy this place with us.
I grew up in a big family, but I’ve had to distance myself from them because they couldn’t give me the support and acceptance I need. Now, I feel an absence of family in my life that I want to try to fill with healthier relationships.
I am neurodivergent and LGBT. I love animals, plants, and books. My roommate loves computer games and DnD.
I am open to advice as I feel like I may be getting in over my head.
Please help me find a home. I have all my stuff packed and I’m ready to go… but where? I have a tent, sleeping bag, pillow, clothes, and a few laptops to be fixed. And a speaker for nano ipods. Everywhere I’ve found I could go for a few days at least have all given up on me bc I’ve taken too long though not my fault. Blah bla blah please help me find a home 760-409-2865 also, when I leave my sister she’s going to take this phone away. Ugh.
I’m Sunni and I live in Montana. I’ve been researching intentional communities for years, mainly for retirement at this point. (I’m 55. Husband is 59.) My dream is to live in a small house on some shared land with other couples/singles, with people who share the same ideologies. I just joined hoping to start meeting such people. I garden and used to have chickens and horses. I’m an avid hiker and kayaker. I’m currently entered in a raffle to win some land in Montana. Dream Property Raffle | Tobacco Valley Animal Shelter Fundraising (There is fine print to that raffle, just so you know. The government will want 25% of the prize.) I’d LOVE to win that land, and if I don’t, I hope someone like me wins it, and not some super wealthy person who will use it as their 3rd home.
Hi, I’m Alex. I’ve never been part of an intentional community and have really not had any close relationships (or at least being geographically close never coincided with being cognitively and behaviorally close) with anyone in my life. I still live with my parents since I’ve never been able to perform socially in a way that results in consistent income of inflatable bank credits backed by debt, so I’ve made less “money” in my entire life than most people make in one year. I used most of it to start financing raw land that I started growing a food forest on but I don’t know how I will be able to continue doing that since I only become more incompatible with the system of converting real world value into opportunities for “the protected class” the longer I live and I no longer can find a way to get access to purchasing power. I’ve spent most of my life learning and I went too far with it to fit into what’s going on in modern cultures that I’ve witnessed, so I think the only hope for me at this point is finding other people who I could form mutually beneficial relationships with in alignment with truth, ecosystems, and the water cycle. I don’t think that attempting to modify popular culture will be beneficial for anyone since the foundation of what’s going on is corrupt at too basic of a level, it just needs to be rebuilt from a new foundation. I’ve been studying and practicing permaculture in depth for the past 12 years or so. I’ve also been a musician, designer, and builder basically my whole life.
I’m trying to find people I’m compatible with to pursue shared goals together with.
I currently live in northeast Ohio, and I’m 31.
Hello. I am Jim Costa and new here.
I live in NW Florida, US.
For lack of a better term for it, I woke up as a psychic 25 years ago.
Until then I was trained as a Certified Public Accountant, Masters in Computer Science and a Paralegal.
I saw the Collapse and Reset coming and in particular, how many would choose to live in Intentional
Communities. I went into one community many nights in dreams for over six months.
I wrote a book about what I saw and added to it to fill in the best I could how that community thrived.
I dropped out of the work force 20 years ago to help others prepare for the collapse and reset to mitigate their suffering. I also waited for the near time to arrive when banks would be collapsing to bring out my visions so others could FREELY use what the wanted to create their own communities.
I waited until now because I knew (as a former banker) that banks would never support Intentional Communities because they would put banks out of business. But now Humanitarian Grants will be available to completely pay for them as they will be much needed as we recover from the impending financial collapse and loss of jobs in a new economic system.
Its Friday afternoon and I am pooped from the day. I do look forward to becoming a member here and talking with you.
This is my free 15 year old News Blog covering only the Collapse and Reset.
There is an article I wrote about 15 years ago about my journey. Its called Humanity Awakens (on top menu) and is on the free News Blog (with no adds): Resetus.us
This is the book that is no longer really available but can be freely read for all details at the link below:
Amazon CoopVillageFoundation.org (this new website is still a work in process)
I realize I am probably overloading you, but allow me to say that I am not after money in any way, just it is now time to get the word out so all can take from me what they wish and trash want the don’t want.
Hope to talk to you soon. Jim
Hi, All!
I’m in the early stages of exploring the idea of starting an intentional community, or possibly some other type of community focused on health and wellness without the hippie vibes.
Community is becoming more important than ever and I want to create something special.
I’m looking for ways to gain hands-on experience in running a community and exploring a viable business model before fully committing to it.
Thanks,
JT
Hello! I am Hayley, a longtime city girl who’s recently discovered I’m a country kid at heart. I am not experienced with homesteading stuff but I’m great with all things administrative: organizing things (information/time/materials/efforts), managing projects, making spreadsheets, setting up new organizations and so on. I have a friend with a 100 acre property in central Ontario who would like to set up an ecovillage so I’m looking for ways for her to do that.
You can call me Hayley, or my @ name
I am currently living in Peterborough, Ontario but wish to move to an intentional community
My experiences - I have been living in cities most of my life, but the best times have been when I lived in large multi-room homes with roommates with whom I shared cooking and cleaning duties. I am not close with my family but I miss living with others so I’m looking for a permanent home.
My special talents are organizing things.
My interests are (a) helping people who are passionate about things solve problems and (b) homesteading.
I’m here because I’m looking for more information about starting an ecovillage, in particular, how to set up a legal structure that can own land which people live on. I also want to get to know some other folks and communities who have done similar things.
Hello All,
My name is Kamal. I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Zambia. Currently, I’m working on a long term (30 year) plan to establish a model village there to not only establish a self-sustaining and self-reliant village but also to serve as training center for others in the region to establish or improve their own villages from our learnings and experimentations. The planning docs are in pre-alpha stage so not ready to share yet but once it’s progressed some, I will share and would love feedback on it.
I’ll be exploring existing communities for ideas and tips so I’m looking forward to meeting like minded people and learning a TON! Thanks for having me.
Greetings,
My name is Steve. My wife, Doris and I live on 10 Riverfront acres, within 1/2 mile of a rails to trails path, called the Pere Marquette State Trail, in Central Northern Michigan. We continue to develop an Eco Village called Bluebird Farms. My experience includes Licensed Residential Builder, Retail Bicycle Business, Former Elementary School Superintendent. My wife Artist, Clear and Compassionate Communication Teacher. Both of us are Musicians and love the outdoors. Hope you are interested in joining us to create a Sustainable Community Existence. One that values all individuals and strives to protect our delicate environment.
Cheers,
Doris and Steve
Hello to everyone.
I am a mid-50s computer programmer, living in sunny southwest Florida on a 1-acre residential lot in a suburban city, which we have been converting into a food forest since we moved in 13 years ago.
Our trees include mangos, avocados, macadamia, guava, starfruit, sapodilla, black sapote, noni, soursop, tamarind, Fuyu persimmon, allspice, bay laurel, moringa, and cinnamon. We grow lots of bananas, katuk, chaya, sabdariffa, sweet potatoes, cassava, pigeon peas, and Seminole pumpkin. In our winter garden we grow the veggies familiar to most; lettuce, kale, mustard, beets, fennel, green beans, etc.
We have very large pollinator gardens, and love to watch the butterflies while enjoying a cold beer in the pool after finishing our chores for the day. A huge variety of tropical flowers around the yard, orchids and bromeliads mounted in the trees, create a serene Garden of Eden feel. Beauty nourishes the soul.
We do not raise chickens due to logistic constraints when we evacuate for hurricanes.
My first exposure to the idea of IC came from two fictional works: Walden Two and Galt’s Gulch in Atlas Shrugged. Because politically I am anarcho-capitalist, arrived at via radical application of the non-aggression principle, I love the idea of living in an IC because of its potential to extricate myself from the Federal Reserve Economy, thereby denying consent to be government.
Some might think that it’s paradoxical for a rabid individualist to embrace collective living, but I see no contradiction as long as two conditions are met. First, the association is completely voluntary and any member has the right of exit at any time. Second, the community must remain relatively small; I assert that Dunbar’s number, about 150 people, is the upper limit of where socialism can scale due the hardware limits of our primate brains.
The ideal community, which I seek to find or found, has the following attributes:
- A sustainable, permaculture, organic farm which produces 90% of the food for approximately 250 people.
- A resident community where the members participate in tax-free work-share arrangements for room and board, and additionally work part-time as regular W-2 employees in the public-facing business(es), making less annually than the standard deduction for single filers, or more for those with dependents. (Ideally making the maximum possible while being liable for no federal income tax once dependents and child tax credits are factored in.)
- A luxury boutique resort/retreat with gourmet farm-to-table meals is the primary source of income for the 501 corp and also acts as the top of the recruitment funnel.
- Onsite medical professionals who provide services for resort guests and the community members.
- Medicare-certified Rural Health Clinic or assisted living facilities, with the goal being for people to cash out of the system, buy into a community which legally receives government money for their care.
- A registered charter school to receive funding in places such as FL where the money follows the child.
- Additionally, once the community is established, consider working with state foster programs, to provide a better life for at-risk children in a non-exploitative environment.
- A replicable “open-source” template that provides an easy off-ramp from the current system, with the hope of attracting late Boomers and Gen-X types with moderate net worth to “invest” in setting up the next “franchise.”
Hello, Jim. I’m in SW FL, Sarasota. You seem like exactly the type of person with whom I joined this forum to connect.
I too believe that intentional communities may be the stable structure we need to weather the inexorable systemic changes. I have my ideas about the structure of those, as I’m sure you have yours, and I look forwarding to reading your website.
