The Foundation for Intentional Community posted that a European study published in 2022 on older co-housing residents found a high level of satisfaction, closer social ties, a greater sense of personal security, and the ability to manage their own lives longer.
Naren Bakshi, an advocate and event organizer for the elderly, reports the following:
Solo agers are a growing group, with more never-married, unpartnered, and childless adults. And [if] adult children live far away, they have a child with a disability who can’t care for them, or they are estranged, more aging adults are looking elsewhere for support….You just need a well-intentioned community to help you have agency over your future life, people who can help you maintain your dignity and autonomy.
